Nelson Laboratories, Inc. was founded in 1929 by O.W. Nelson who started the business selling Hog Cholera Serum to veterinarians. As a wholesaler of animal health products to veterinarians, the company expanded to include pharmaceuticals, biologicals and instruments. The Nelson family continued their ownership until 1983 when Mr. Joseph Robbie, who also owned the Miami Dolphins football team, purchased the company. In October 1990, after the death of Mr. Robbie, Nelson Laboratories, Inc. became Nelson Laboratories Limited Partnership owned by the Joseph Robbie heirs.
